Brrrr...It's cold outside

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Well folks like it or not it's that time again for snow, snow and more snow. Now many usually take this time to start their hibernation with hot cocoa and a good book. But what happens when you're kids are home for break and they've played with every toy in the house? Well no need to go out and buy more gifts before Christmas because we're here to help!

Here are a few wintertime ideas provided by Parents.com

Make colored ice cubes and hide them around the yard, for a scavenger hunt.

  • When it's cold out (below 32 degrees) blow bubbles and watch them freeze.
  • In a spray bottle add food coloring to water and let your kids paint the snow.
For the birds, hollow out an orange and will it with seeds.

Let's Talk Turkey

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I can just taste that yummy pumpkin pie! Mmmm! And I bet you and your family are getting ready for this delicious American tradition as well!

However before you start digging into that Turkey wouldn't you like to know more about this holiday and why we celebrate it? Of course many of you know it was founded by the Pilgrims of Plymouth Rock and the Native Americans, but did you know that the holiday wasn't a national holiday until Abraham Lincoln declared it 1863? Also at the first Thanksgiving there wasn't any pumpkin pie served, instead it was just pumpkins minus the pie. I'm glad that tradition has changed!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

When It Rains . . . It Pours

We are very thankful that we did not get hit as bad as most residents in Colorado. However I thought I would share a few photos from our experience through the 100 year flood!
Unique Natural Products, 100 Year Flood, Colorado, Mess
This is the creek in front of our warehouse. And yes you did read that correctly, our creek. Before the rain this was barely a trickle of a stream; afterward it became a raging river! Currently it has calmed back down to a creek state again, but at the time it was crazy to come to work to this!

Here is the parking lot we share with other businesses. If you can't tell there is so much water that a whirlpool has formed above a drain. Basically it's a larger version of what happens when you drain your bathtub.
Again we are supremely thankful this was the worst of it for us. However, there were those who were hit hard by the storm. So please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Cheap Organization

Oh The Thrill of Being Organized

When first meeting me, you would never know, that one of my favorite things to do is walk through an organization store and image all things I cMad In Crafts, 100 Organization, Dollar Store, Home, Household, Cleaning, Inexpensive, Unique Natural Productsould do, to organize my home. However, the thing that keeps me from buying out the whole store, is of course the price. There are so many projects I would love to do, if only the prices weren't so steep.

Well if you are like me, I have the perfect solution for you! Jessica Hill, from Mad In Crafts, has come up with a list of 100 items you can purchase from the Dollar Store, to organize your entire house. It's completely ok to do double take with that last sentence; however, you did read it correctly! You can organize your entire home just by shopping at your local Dollar Store. That means more organizing for less cash!

So if you notice a decrease in blog posts, it's probably because I'm going crazy organizing my house!
